About the job

We're looking for a Principal Enterprise Data Strategist & Business Advisor to serve as the senior strategic partner between the client’s Data team and business unit leadership. This is an advisory and governance role, not a delivery role: you'll establish modern data governance, define intake and collaboration models, and translate data assets into commercial and operational value that business leaders can act on. We need deep financial services experience (direct exposure to lending/loan operations is a strong plus) along with the strategic credibility to operate as a peer to corporate-level leadership rather than execute a project plan. Based in Greenville.

This role is embedded directly inside client organizations; working alongside client leadership and stakeholders day to day, not observing from the outside. It requires real comfort operating in large, complex, dynamic corporate environments and with incomplete information.

This position is onsite in Greenville, South Carolina, United States.

What you’ll do:

Serve as the strategic advisor to business vertical leaders, translating the Data organization's capabilities and roadmap into commercial and operational value the business can act on.

Define and evolve the enterprise data governance model — intake, prioritization, and collaboration frameworks — that determines how the business and the Data vertical engage and invest together.

Act as a trusted thought partner to executive and business-unit stakeholders, surfacing the strategic risks, opportunities, and implications of data initiatives before they become delivery problems.

Establish governance standards and business-value metrics with the Data vertical, and use them to guide investment and prioritization conversations with leadership.

Advise on data investment priorities and the organizational change management needed to mature the business's data capabilities and adoption.

Identify opportunities to unlock new commercial and operational value from existing data assets — including loan and financial services data then work with client business leaders to define and champion them.

Become a trusted advisor to client senior leadership, managing stakeholder expectations and ensuring program outcomes that support account growth and a durable long-term client relationship.

Identify opportunities for expanded scope within existing client relationships and contribute to proposals and statements of work.

Active collaboration with Goods and Services to share engagement insights, adopt shared standards, and reinforce a unified organizational approach to client work.

What you’ll need:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

10+ years of experience in a role leading complex, cross-functional initiatives, including significant experience in a client-facing consulting or professional services environment.

Experience partnering with stakeholders across the company to drive alignment, resolve dependencies, and deliver strategic outcomes.

Experience managing risks, dependencies, executive escalations, and competing priorities in a fast-paced client environment.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience using data, metrics, and reporting to drive program decisions and measure success.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting program status, risks, and recommendations to senior client leadership.

Proven ability to build credibility and influence cross-functional teams, including client teams where our firm holds no direct authority, and drive results.

Comfort operating as an outside advisor: building trust and credibility quickly in a new client organization without the built-in authority of an internal role.

Experience enabling others to use AI.

Tolerance for ambiguity: must be able to make sound calls and keep a program moving with incomplete information, then bring structure to the situation as it clarifies rather than waiting for clarity to act.

Experience in Financial Services sector.
