You’ll have a clear view of the product roadmap and the business’s long-term vision, with the opportunity to contribute constructively to both. You’ll interact with product management and design, influencing which solutions are chosen to meet customer needs. You’ll lead the planning, design, development, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of significant portions of the supporting software. You’ll provide and receive feedback from peers and coach less experienced engineers both within the team and the broader organization. You’ll use modern tools, whether already part of our stack or new technologies you assess as needed to deliver the desired user experience. What will you do? - Write high-quality, well-tested code while understanding business needs - Maintain and ensure high-quality software with accountability for production reliability and usage - Effectively contribute suggestions and new ideas to improve our platform - Design, code, unit test, and integrate new features and functionality as defined by the PO and team - Participate in code reviews, architectural planning, and delivery meetings - Update progress daily through the tracking tool (Jira) or Kanban board What do you need to succeed? Must-Have: - 5+ years of experience and a solid understanding of Ruby on Rails, Sidekiq, Redis - Deep experience with databases and data structures (MySQL or Postgres) - Experience in Unit/Integration testing - Experience with ReactJS, Webpack, jQuery/JavaScript/HTML - Experience participating in code reviews, architectural planning, and delivery meetings - Team-player attitude with a preference for collaboration with product, design, and engineering teams - Fast learning ability to quickly grasp new concepts (industry, business, and technical) - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Focus on application security and the importance of protecting sensitive user data Nice to Have: - Post-secondary degree or diploma in computer engineering or the equivalent in training/experience - Experience with compliance standards, such as ISO 27001 or SOC 2 - Experience building apps in a cloud environment (i.e., Docker/Kubernetes) - Experience deploying to cloud infrastructure (AWS services, familiarity with Terraform) - Experience with Rust - Experience with DevOps tools like Docker, GitHub, CircleCI - Monitoring and logging tools experience, such as New Relic, Dynatrace, Sumo Logic, or Splunk - Familiarity with Open API specifications What’s in it for you?
