The Role

We’re looking for a Full Stack Engineer to work closely with product, design, mobile, and machine learning team members to design & build experiences that re-define in-store shopping. We believe that agentic, LLM-driven workflows are here to stay and are looking for engineers who have embraced this and will being a different perspective to our product development lifecycle.

You'll help build engaging & intuitive web experiences and the event-driven & real-time backend services that power them. You’ll work across the stack, implementing highly responsive UI components and real-time data flows and APIs on a backend designed for scale & flexibility.

What You Will Own

• Design and implement reactive, real-time web interfaces that help manage & redefine what is possible with in-store content personalisation

• Contribute to distributed, event-driven backend services connecting our web experience with information from remote devices and external data sources.

• Model and manage structured and semi-structured data across storage layers

• Integrate AI-driven personalisation and real-time insights into user flows

• Contribute to overall system design: service boundaries, data ownership, scaling, and observability

Essential Qualifications

• Built modern full-stack applications (Python/Java/Go + React/ts)

• Worked with a variety of storage technologies (eg. Postgres, Mongo, Redis, Object)

• Experience with async and bi-directional communication protocols and patterns (eg. WebSockets, SSE)

• Designed and implemented event-driven distributed systems (eg. Kafka/Pulsar, RabbitMQ, MQTT, or similar)

• Actively utilising and experimenting with AI development tools (eg. Claude, Copilot, Cursor) to speed up iteration, prototyping and overall development

Nice to Have

• Built and deployed services on any major cloud providers' services (Azure, GCP, AWS)

• Experience with container orchestration and service containerisation (Kubernetes, Docker)

• Worked with real-time data collection and/or processing

• Worked in an IoT or Edge-oriented architectures

• Experience or knowledge in retail POS, inventory, or loyalty systems
