The company creates products for fantasy sports, sports betting, and prediction markets, combining these into a simple, intuitive app. In just over five years, Underdog has become one of the fastest-growing companies in the sports sector, most recently valued at $1.3 billion. The company’s values emphasize dedication and accountability (“give a sh*t”). They seek team members who are driven, perform well, and help advance the product. Responsibilities Lead and define motion design principles, patterns, and guidelines for interaction and UI motion. Create high-quality micro-interactions (transitions, state changes, loading/empty states, feedback, onboarding) that enhance usability and enjoyment. Quickly prototype using motion-oriented tools and validate interaction models. Collaborate closely with engineering for precise, performant, and accessible implementation; provide specifications and QA support. Build reusable motion components and contribute to the design system (tokens, curves/easing, durations, choreography rules). Use motion to communicate hierarchy, cause/effect, and system status (errors, success, progress, latency). Evaluate the effectiveness of motion through research and data (comprehension, conversion, time to completion, error reduction). Mentor designers and elevate motion quality through reviews, critiques, and workshops. Align with brand/marketing to ensure consistent motion across product and storytelling touchpoints.
