As GEICO continues to strengthen its finance infrastructure, standardize reporting and analysis, and build more robust forecasting metrics, processes, and tools, we’re looking for a dynamic, strategic Senior Director, FP&A to help lead the next chapter. In this highly visible role, you’ll shape how we plan and forecast, translate performance into actionable insights for executive leadership, and help deliver our quarterly, annual, and long-term financial commitments through best-in-class performance management processes, systems, and capabilities. Location: This is a hybrid role, requiring a minimum, on-site presence of 3 days per week at our Bethesda, MD; Chicago, IL or New York, NY office. Reports to: Head of Finance & Reserving Key Responsibilities: Enterprise Planning, Forecasting & Performance Management (corporate FP&A) Own/oversee the operating cadence (annual plan, rolling forecasts, LRP) and ensure consistent and sound methodologies, assumptions, and deliverables. Deliver timely, accurate, and insightful financial and operational analysis highlighting key performance metrics, variances, trends, and drivers of financial performance (e.g., loss ratios, expense ratios, combined ratios, premium and policy growth) to executive leadership and key stakeholders. Challenge operational and financial trends and assumptions, while incorporating strategic initiatives into the annual planning, budgeting and forecasting processes. Manage annual long-range planning processes for GEICO that are aligned with the company's goals and support decision-making. Collaborate with CFO, Head of Finance & Reserving and other Executive Leaders to present financial results to GEICO and Berkshire leadership. Financial Strategy & Planning Advise and serve as a business partner to the finance and enterprise leadership teams on business strategy, financial strategy, and performance. Work cross-functionally on strategic issues and opportunities facing the company, including the development of a business strategy for sustained profitability and expected financial returns, the introduction of new programs/strategies, and regulatory action. Be seen as a resource in the development of solutions to business challenges. Management Reporting, Executive/Board Reporting Lead standardized management reporting (KPIs, scorecards, operating reviews) and ensure accuracy, timeliness, and message discipline that enable transparency and accountability. Translate complex results into clear executive-ready materials (including board-level reporting support). Finance Talent Leadership & Cross-Finance Alignment Lead and develop high-performing FP&A team; set clear priorities, foster collaboration, and drive transformation. Set standards for analytical rigor and communication. Align across Controllership, Actuarial (if applicable), Treasury, and Business Unit Finance to ensure “one version of the truth.” Work Experience and Education: Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting required, with a master’s degree or professional certification like Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred. 15+ years' experience in strategic financial data analysis with a minimum of 10 years developing and leading a team in the insurance industry. Experience working with executive and senior management to develop and implement successful strategic data/reporting solutions and assess and/or define new business opportunities. Extensive functional experience in P&L management, corporate planning, business unit finance, strategy, and operations in insurance a plus. Deep understanding of financial principles, accounting, and advanced data and financial modeling within the insurance industry. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
