About the Company Ray is an early-stage consumer app company developing an AI-supported, interactive digital journaling app. The team has raised $4 million to rethink daily journaling: interactive, intelligent, and tailored to the real needs of users. The role will co-create the visual centerpiece of the product: the original flagship character intended to be central to the product and brand. Tasks Design of the flagship character: silhouette, shape language, facial logic, personality, and behavior. Development of the character world: facial expressions, emotions, poses, sticker sets, and seasonal variants. Expansion of the character system through secondary figures and a larger cast. Requirements Preferred mid-to-senior level experience; portfolio fit is key. Portfolio style: warm, simple, iconic, kawaii (e.g., Sanrio, Studio Ghibli, KakaoTalk Friends). Demonstrated ability to expand a character consistently across expressions, poses, and surfaces; an eye for shape language and collectible/brand potential. Desirable but not mandatory: experience at character-IP companies, consumer apps with mascots, or with merch/plush/licensed products.
