(AIG Sonpo) Auto Insurance Department Manager
Job Purpose Auto insurance accounts for approximately 40% of AIG Sonpo's business and is a crucial product for ensuring stable and profitable growth for the company. To achieve profitable growth in our auto insurance segment and maintain favorable loss ratios, we develop underwriting strategies, identify and target markets with good loss ratios, and design or streamline products accordingly. Job Responsibilities Depending on suitability, you will engage in one or more of the following activities, with an adjustment to job grade as per your role: Product Development You will handle tasks such as drafting detailed rules for insurance products, negotiating with regulatory authorities regarding coverage and premiums, defining system requirements for product sales and accounting, and responding to inquiries about insurance products. In addition to developing and revising products and special clauses, this role will involve revising standard agency commissions and participating in company-wide projects to revamp automobile insurance contract management systems. Underwriting You will assess the acceptability of insurance contracts and develop or improve strategic underwriting guidelines using data-driven insights, including underwriting conditions, insurance amounts, and premium rates. You will also lead efforts to transform underwriting operations, designing an underwriting engine and optimizing the processes to enable real-time acceptability decisions during sales. Planning and Promotion You will support the profitable growth of AIG’s auto insurance by conducting market research on high-margin markets and designing new sales structures. This will include planning, supporting, and implementing training programs for sales offices and agencies. A particular focus will be on enhancing cooperation between claims services and road service improvements, which are essential elements in the upcoming trend of comparative recommendation sales. Key Relationships Internal (within AIG): - Product Actuarial Division - Systems Division - Operations Division - Claims Services Division - Sales Division External (outside AIG): - Agencies - Customers - Regulatory Authorities Required Skills & Experiences Education: - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent Skills/Knowledge/Competencies/Qualifications/Licenses: - [License] Driver’s license - [Skills] Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required; skills in Access and DWH are a plus - TOEIC score of 600 or higher; 785 or higher is preferable Characteristics: - Ability to take ownership - Proactive communication skills - Analytical thinking based on facts, logic, and data - Persistent in tasks such as drafting documents, proofreading, and negotiations - Experience defining system requirements and portfolio management is a plus Work Experience: - Experience in automobile insurance-related sales, administrative tasks, or claims services - Participation in insurance underwriting, product development, or administrative improvement projects is a plus - Team leadership and management experience, even on a small scale, is desirable *The grade will be determined as either 20 or 21 based on role, experience, and skills.
