(AIG Sonpo) Extended Warranty Manager
Job Purpose In the general insurance business, underwriting plays a central and indispensable role, and the decisions made by the underwriting department directly impact the profitability of an insurance company. The extended warranty insurance business is a field where AIG holds global strengths, and as it seeks further growth in the Japanese market in the future, the underwriting department is expected to contribute through system design, sales promotion, agency education, and financial management for extended warranty insurance. Job Responsibilities As the manager of the extended warranty underwriting department, you will lead system development, underwriting decisions, and premium setting in the design of the extended warranty system, in collaboration with related departments, reporting to the Head of Extended Warranty. Additionally, coordination with the Global Extended Warranty team may be required for certain cases. You will lead sales promotion efforts in cooperation with brokers and agents. In complex cases, you may need to provide direct explanations to client companies. Your responsibilities will also include routine product management tasks (responding to inquiries on policy interpretation, reviewing solicitation documents) and project-based product development tasks (policy revisions, rate adjustments). Key Relationships Internal (within the AIG organization): - AIG Global Extended Warranty Insurance Line (overseas) - Other product lines (mainly domestic) - Sales departments - Claims departments - Warranty business management companies within the AIG Group External (outside the AIG organization): - Distribution partners (agents/brokers) Required Skills and Experiences Education: - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualifications. Skills/Abilities: - Logical thinking ability - Coordination and communication skills - Ability to read and write accurate Japanese - A level of English proficiency sufficient for work-related tasks Work Experience: - Extensive experience in the general insurance industry (preferably 5+ years). - Proactive in embracing new challenges and developing new systems. - Ability to persistently and positively come up with solutions when faced with difficulties. - Practical experience in product departments at a general insurance company - Practical experience in product development for general insurance At AIG, we value in-person collaboration as a vital part of our culture, which is why we ask our team members to be primarily in the office.
