Proof of work

The team

As an API specialist you will be the first point of contact when our clients need assistance with our REST, WebSocket, and FIX APIs.

Our API support team handles inquiries from clients using our API to implement various projects, from mobile apps, to high frequency trading bots, to other exchanges sourcing our liquidity.

You will work closely with our entire range of retail, VIP, and Institutional clients, answering API related questions and solving technical API issues, while providing the excellent customer experience our clients expect from Kraken.

The opportunity

  • Answer clients’ API questions via text and live support channels (Zendesk/Email/Telegram/Zoom).

  • Assist colleagues with API inquiries and projects involving API use cases.

  • Diagnose and provide solutions for clients’ API related issues.

  • Assist clients in implementing their API code (provide integration advice, debug client code, provide code examples).

  • Develop and maintain our official API libraries/wrappers in multiple programming languages.

  • Maintain internal and client facing API documentation, support content, and training resources.

  • Provide testing and feedback for new API features before they are released to clients.

  • Perform API related engineering tasks (API onboarding, firewall management, networking configuration).

  • Assist in the management of our API support team (QA for other specialists, etc.).

Skills you should HODL

  • Knowledge and experience of at least one programming language (Python. JavaScript, C/C++/C#, Rust, for example).

  • Understanding of REST, WebSocket, and FIX API functionality.

  • Experience interpreting multiple data formats (JSON, CSV, XML, FIX 4.4, etc.).

  • Experience managing hosts (AWS instances, for example) and networks (firewall configuration, etc.).

  • Ability to write complex technical documentation in a human friendly format.

  • Good interpersonal skills, and excellent communication abilities.

Nice to haves

  • Experience writing trading related code for REST, WebSocket, or FIX APIs (not necessarily crypto).

  • Experience with Google Sheets, Google Script, SQL, and other data tools.

  • Experience with third party API tools (Postman, N8N, for example).

  • UNIX command line knowledge (bash/sed/awk/grep/expect/etc.)

  • Language ability (in addition to English).

Unless a specific application deadline is stated in the job posting, applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.

Please note, applicants are permitted to redact or remove information on their resume that identifies age, date of birth, or dates of attendance at or graduation from an educational institution.

We consider qualified applicants with criminal histories for employment on our team, assessing candidates in a manner consistent with the requirements of the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance.

Kraken is powered by people from around the world and we celebrate all Krakenites for their diverse talents, backgrounds, contributions and unique perspectives. We hire strictly based on merit, meaning we seek out the candidates with the right abilities, knowledge, and skills considered the most suitable for the job. We encourage you to apply for roles where you don't fully meet the listed requirements, especially if you're passionate or knowledgable about crypto!

We may ask candidates to complete job-related skills or work-style assessments as part of our hiring process. These assessments are designed to evaluate competencies relevant to the role and are applied consistently across candidates for similar positions. Assessment results are considered alongside other relevant information, such as experience and interviews, and are not the sole basis for any employment decision.
